Therapy may involve working with a child individually, with parents/carers, or together depending on developmental needs and therapeutic goals.

what

therapy and support for children, adolescents, parents and carers, navigating new challenges or seeking support to overcome emotional and behavioural difficulties. Support is delivered through respectful and developmentally appropriate interventions grounded in cognitive behavioural therapy and attachment-informed practice.

how

therapy is tailored to each child and family and delivered in a respectful, collaborative and developmentally appropriate way. For children, sessions often incorporate play, creativity and relational engagement. For adolescents, therapy provides a supportive space to explore thoughts, emotions and experiences at a pace that feels safe. Parents are supported as an important part of the therapeutic process.

what to expect

the first appointment focuses on understanding your concerns and identifying goals for therapy. Parents are usually involved in the initial session depending on the child’s age and needs. Sessions are developmentally appropriate and may include play and creative engagement for children or conversation-based support for adolescents. Parent involvement is discussed collaboratively. We are a neuroaffirming and strengths-based practice.

why do people see a clinical psychologist?

Families commonly seek support for:
  • Anxiety and worries
  • Low mood or emotional difficulties
  • Behavioural concerns
  • Trauma and attachment-related difficulties
  • School-related stress or social challenges
  • Challenges associated with ASD and/or ADHD
  • Adjustment to life changes including pre and post-natal transitions
  • Parenting

why clinical psychology?

people seek the support of a clinical psychologist for many reasons, often when they want something to change in their lives or regarding their child’s wellbeing. A clinical psychologist can help when difficulties have been present for some time or when concerns are not improving on their own. Mental health encompasses emotional, behavioural and social wellbeing and when challenges arise in these areas, a clinical psychologist can support you and your child to better understand these experiences and develop skills to move forward in a way that aligns with your values and goals.
